Pretty Little Princess Parties

I've taken a little career path change in my life and have turned into a businesswoman, in that I started my own company!  Introducing...

Pretty Little Princess Parties

I already had my first party!  One of the little girls I nanny for, Lilly, had been asking me for like 6 months if Ariel could come to her birthday party!  She knows I do princess parties (I've worked for several companies) and at the time I told her to ask her mom to call the company I work for and hire me through them.  But then it got me to thinking...why not start my own company?!  It's perfect!!!  I have a B.A. in Theatre and princess parties are definitely a theatrical production, I have been doing princess parties pretty much ever since I moved to L.A. and have worked for 3 premiere princess party companies so I have tons of experience, not to mention all my nannying and child care experience so I am great with kids.  AND it's the perfect stay at home mom job!

I've always wanted to be a stay at home mom and wasn't sure how that would work with acting.  That's when I decided to stick with voice over acting (it's flexible and my favorite kind anyway) and create a home VO studio for auditions.  But that wasn't going to keep me busy enough (nor is it a very reliable source of income).  But princess parties are huge!!!  And I have a great database of potential clients!  I work with kids in every other aspect of my life, I even serve in the nursery at church!  So I have a huge network of parents and children.  I haven't really been promoting myself yet because I'm waiting until I have at least 3 costumes (Ariel, Anna and Cinderella are the first three) before I start advertising so I have a little bit of a selection before I get my name out there.  But I have high hopes for this little company!

If you know me at all you know that something like this is right up my alley!  I always wanted to be a Disney Princess when I grew up...now my dream came true! :)

Here's to the first of many, many more princess parties and making little girls' dreams come true.

California Adventure date!

A couple times a month, Mark and I have Disney dates. I meet him at work on Friday and at 3:30 when he gets off we drive to Disneyland! By the time we get into the park it's around 5 pm and we get some fast passes and go on some of the less popular rides (I refuse to wait more than 30 minutes and when you get there near the end of the day all the bigger rides are jam packed so we only go on them with fast passes) and then we try a new restaurant each time (with our passes we get 20% off at restaurants so it's not any more expensive than a regular restaurant outside of Disney). After dinner we use our fast passes, maybe see a parade or fireworks, do a few more rides and, depending on how full we are, get ice cream on Main Street before heading home.

Last Friday we finally went to California Adventure instead of Disneyland. I never think there's that much to do over there (except for all the fun stuff you have to get there early for before fast passes run out aka my favorite ride of all time, Radiator Springs Racers!) but we were pleasantly surprised at how much we found to do and we even did a few things for the first time!

First, we headed straight to Soarin' Over California (best ride ever!) but all the fast passes were gone and the wait was 45 min. So we kept looking!

We always do the Ariel ride which never has a wait (which is weird because all the fantasy land rides at Disney have at least 20 minute waits usually even when it's slow but whatever, not complaining!) Ariel is my favorite anyway :)

After that we went on our new favorite ride, Goofy's Sky School! That ride is awesome! We didn't have to wait very long either, it was so much fun! We got fast passes to ride it again later.  Then we walked around Cars Land for kicks...on Route 66 ;)

Maybe it was the wonderful spirit that is Cars Land but we started to get optimistic about the wait time for Radiator Springs. We even thought about going Single Rider. But the Single Rider wasn't going or something (the wait time was blacked out) and the regular line? 80 minutes! Ugh. No one's got time for that!

So then we went to Bug's Land and saw "It's Tough to be a Bug" for the first time there (we've done it at DisneyWorld).

I swear I act like a 3 year old in that show, screaming and grabbing Mark's arm constantly. It's a pretty terrifying experience actually! Huge 3D spiders that launch things at you, thick fog that comes down followed by spiders from the ceiling, and all the things stinging you in the back and sliding under your seat. I don't know if I'll be bringing my kids on that until they're maybe 12, haha.

After that we ran into a Mad Tea party (outdoor concert with stilt walkers and musicians all dressed like rabbits and flamingo's and stuff haha) and then did the Monster's Inc ride.

At the end of the ride I decided to take a video of the scary receptionist who says "I'm watching you Wuzowski...always watching" and discovered she was real!!  I don't know if there was someone inside her or just controlling the voice or what but she started talking to me! I got embarrassed and quickly stopped recording so this is all I got...

Hahaha after that she said, "I'm ready for my closeup. Cheeeeeese!!" She thought I was taking a picture, haha. I was honestly so taken aback by it.

After that we had time for one more thing before dinner. We did Turtle Talk with Crush (always a good time) and then headed to Wine Country Trattoria where we had reservations.

I was in a bad mood when we sat down. It was so beautiful outside with all the lights and view but they seated us inside and it was freezing. So that didn't help.

I tried to cheer up but Turtle Talk with Crush had made me a little sad. We are currently still trying for a baby and I had gotten my period the day before. Disney is fun for us but it's even more fun with children. There are families everywhere and everything is geared for people with children, especially Turtle Talk which we had just done. Sometimes it's sad that we still don't have any and aren't any closer to having any. I feel like we have been trying forever and I have nightmares of infertility... But I digress.

When our food came I wasn't that impressed. I got Bolognese with Campanelle pasta which was basically just like spaghetti and meat sauce but the pasta was overcooked. We make better tasting spaghetti with sauce out of a jar every week! Not to mention it was pretty pricey. Mark got lamb that was pretty good but I was still pretty annoyed.

There was a couple at the next table with a boy around 7 or 8 years old and they were fighting most of the time. It wasn't really bothering us but we did comment on it. The wife kept saying "Shut it!" in a loud whisper to her husband. Their son was completely unaffected by any of this, as though it was their normal. He was just playing and talking to them as they quietly fought. By the end of the meal though, I don't know what the dad was saying but he was making his wife very upset. Finally the boy started yelling "Shut up!" over and over at his dad and holding his mom. It was so odd.

Then something even weirder happened. She paid for our meal! The waiter brought back our bill and said "You don't need to sign." I was confused but Mark didn't seem to be. We left and Mark said, "That lady paid for our meal. I heard her ask if she could." Then the waiter came back out to us and said she had paid for our meal! So crazy! I felt so bad! I mean, she was the one having a terrible night, fighting with her husband and SHE paid for our meal! I'm sure it's because they were fighting and felt bad we had to listen to it but it really didn't affect our meal that much. I was already upset about other things. But that definitely cheered us both up!

After dinner, we walked back and forth in order to get a glimpse of The World of Color show (we didn't have fast passes and you need them to see the show, pretty annoying) and then we shared a banana split from the Ghirardelli Ice Cream & Soda Fountain!

So the whole date cost us $11, not too shabby ;)

Mark's 28th Birthday!

Mark's birthday may have been my favorite day of the trip.  We celebrated by going to Flamingo Gardens, a botanical gardens with the largest Aviary in Florida along with a variety of other wildlife (including tiny dinosaurs, ha not really but we were scared)

On the tour!
It's basically a huge wildlife park with free roaming animals, including peacocks, pelicans, lizards (dinosaurs) and all kinds of birds and squirrels.  They also had a bear (not free roaming) and an American Bald Eagle!

They actually have weddings here, which we thought was weird.  I told Steph I would imagine it's the kind of place Steve Irwin would have gotten married.  She said she could imagine me walking down the aisle with all the lizards jumping on my veil, YIKES!  Hahaha, but we did find this cute gazebo...

I would marry him anywhere
I took a lot of random little videos that day.  This one below is Sean and Steph's reaction to the HUGE pelicans that you had to walk by on the path.  I was pretty terrified (someone should have filmed me) and knew they would be too but they kept it together while on camera.

We also saw an animal presentation and got to meet some of the endangered animals at the park.

Meet Aubree, the cutest little owl you ever did see
Here is a video of one of the "dinosaurs"...look at it run!!!

On our way out, we stopped to look at this historic little home from like the 1800's!  It was so quaint but the kitchen was a bit too tiny for my tastes (especially since we want 4 kids!)

Oh and the best part of Flamingo Gardens?  This photo op...

The Three Bears
On the way home Mark fell asleep, per usual, and I captured a picture of how we spent every car ride...

I wanna hold your hand forever
After we got back to the hotel, everyone went to the beach except Mark and me.  It felt good to finally be alone...I always appreciate some good old alone time with my love.  It's so peaceful to be alone with Mark.  We don't have to say anything but we can just be together.  We watched Fool's Gold (with Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey) and just relaxed until dinner.

For Mark's birthday dinner we went to La Cucina Veneziana and if you're ever in Ft. Lauderdale, I HIGHLY recommend it!  They had the best Italian food I've ever tasted!!!  Everything we ordered was simply divine.  They are known for their bruschetta but everything was delicious!

Love them!
My order: Bruschetta Carlotta
Mark's Order: Four Cheese Ravioli
I was torn between getting my favorite, ravioli, or trying the bruschetta.  Mark helped me out the way he always does and ordered the ravioli so I got the bruschetta.  As usual, Mark's was way better than mine!  The Ravioli was the House Special of the day and was a mixture of four cheese with spinach, kale, roma tomatoes and toasted pine nuts.  It was so decadent...is that the word?  It was just so scrumptious and light and pure and delicious!!! Best ravioli I've ever tasted and I get it at pretty much every Italian restaurant I go to.  Each bite was a little bit of heaven.

Chicken Picatta
Bruschetta Mascarpone e Crudo
My dad's was the only one I didn't like...only because I didn't like the type of ham and stinky cheese, ha.

Spaghetti  Pomodoro
My sister, the photographer's, of course looks like something from a food catalog.  Ha I'm sure hers was delicious as well but she didn't share :)

28 never looked so good

I snapped this as we were leaving and felt a little emotional, watching my family head back to our car.  Time is so short and we are all growing up so fast.  I love my family so much and I don't want anything to change but at the same time I want to start my own family and so that means change.  I'm just glad families can be together forever.

Welcome to Miami

Most of our vacation was spent at the beach or relaxing in the hotel room but on Wednesday we headed to Miami!  And Sean reminded us where we were at all times...

We only listened to that song about 10 times!  Hahaha, good old annoying little brothers.  Some things never change.

In Miami we went to this delicious authentic Cuban restaurant.  The boys got Cuban sandwiches, I got Pollo con Arroz with platinos y frijoles and my mom got the same only with Carne.  Mmmm mmm good!!!

More to come about celebrating my love's birthday, the best Italian food I've ever had and the cutest little owl!
