San Diego Day 2

On Sunday, Mark and I went to church in San Diego.  We were planning on going to the 1:00 ward but were all ready to check out of our hotel by 10:45 so we tried to catch the 11:00 ward.  We ended up being 10 minutes late and I HATE walking into church late.  We also didn't see any empty seats (they had a huge ward!) so we just sat outside, although several families came in after us and found places to sit inside.  I guess I'm just stubborn that way.  I was so stubborn I decided to go on a walk and wait around until the 1:00 ward!  Mark took the Sacrament and then came and found me and we waited together until 1:00.

So funny story.  Since Mark had already taken the Sacrament, he didn't take it (although I don't know why he didn't just take it twice, I would have).  This autistic (maybe mentally challenged?) boy passed us the Sacrament and when Mark didn't take it, he starts shouting, "He didn't take it!  He didn't take it!"  The lady sitting next to Mark whispered, "It's okay, it's okay," but he continued to shout, "You didn't take it, you need to take it!"  Hahahaha, the whole things was kind of hysterical but poor Mark was embarrassed.  He wasn't even unworthy to take it, he just had already taken it!!  But of course all the strangers must have thought he was so that was pretty embarrassing.  Needless to say, we made a dash out of there right after the first meeting.

Then we headed to the Robinson's where we would be staying that night.  They are so nice!  We ate dinner outside, even though it was freezing.  Sister Robinson had set the table so cute outside and she kept apologizing and saying she always forgets how strong the Murietta winds get and did anyone want a blanket.  She also offered hot chocolate afterwards.  But I had a good time regardless!  They made us salmon with some kind of pico de gallo, potatoes, peas, and salad.  And for dessert, we had delicious, gooey homemade brownies!

After dinner, Sister Robinson had to go to a church meeting so we hung out and talked with her husband, Ray and her daughter Michelle who lives with them, along with Michelle's 3 sweet boys, Noah (8), Jacob (4) and baby Graham (1).  Oh and their sweet pups, Gerdie and Daisy!  We were sitting on the couch and the dogs sprawled themselves out all over us (precious!) while both the older boys were talking over each other to tell us stuff, haha.  Their mom kept apologizing but I loved every minute.  It was just so nice to feel that family atmosphere.  It all made me so very sleepy and I remember dozing off and just feeling so happy with a dog on my lap and the boys playing around us, listening to the adults talk.

The next day we headed back to the city for Mark's seminars.  They sent us off with a delicious waffle breakfast and homemade syrup with fresh fruit!  They were seriously so nice to us and I was sad to leave.  Hopefully we will back to visit soon!

And more to come next time on our fabulous hotel and the excitement of the city!
